The Nursing History Research Unit is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Graduate Student Conference, aimed at promoting the work of graduate students interested in the history of nursing and healthcare. This is a one day, bilingual conference held at the School of Nursing (Roger Guindon Building) at the University of Ottawa, May 17th, 2018.
We invite proposals, in both English and French, from postdoctoral fellows and graduate students addressing the conference theme of Lifting the Rug. Proposals may include research addressing:
-
- Research of those not typically heard in health and nursing historical research such as patients, particularly those who are marginalized (i.e. women, children, the “insane”, “disabled”, racialized or those of lower socio-economic status).
- Research shedding light on a new perspective or approach to understanding a healthcare event or institution.
- The use of “new” methodologies or using traditional methodologies or frameworks in new ways;
- Papers on other health and nursing related histories are also welcome.
Please send a 300 word (maximum) abstract and 1-page C.V. to Alessandra Iozzo-Duval at nhru@uottawa.ca by February 1, 2018. The papers will undergo peer review.
