L’Unité de recherche sur l’histoire des soins infirmiers (URHSI) offre une bourse postdoctorale d’une année avec tous les avantages attribués aux stagiaires postdoctoraux de l’Université d’Ottawa. (http://www.etudesup.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=2274) La ou le candidat choisi sera invité à participer à l’élaboration d’un projet de recherche sur la question du recrutement de nouvelles infirmières au Canada. Bibliothèque et Archives Canada conservent de formidables documents produits par le Ministère de la main-d’oeuvre et de l’Immigration faisant la promotion du métier d’infirmière au Canada au XXe siècle. La ou le candidat participera à l’élaboration d’une préenquête dans les archives qui permettra de rassembler l’information nécessaire pour faire une demande de subvention externe (IRSC ou CRSH) tout en initiant nos boursiers du premier cycle à la recherche en archives (dans le cadre des bourses d’initiation à la recherche). Ce stage postdoctoral représente une excellente opportunité de collaboration en tant que co-chercheur dans le cadre de la mise sur pied d’un projet de recherche de plus grande envergure.

Le rôle d’un-e postdoctorant-e au sein de l’URHSI sera de :
 Maintenir les contacts avec nos réseaux;
 Faire le suivi de la correspondance;
 Participer à l’organisation de séminaires avec des conférenciers nationaux et internationaux;
 Diriger une préenquête dans les archives concernant un projet de recherche sur la pénurie des infirmières et l’immigration comme solution (Nursing shortages and immigration);
 Initier des étudiants du premier cycle à la recherche en archive;
 Maintenir le site Internet de l’Unité à jour;
 Contribuer à l’enseignement des cours d’histoire à l’École des sciences infirmières.
Admissibilité

Le stage postdoctoral, d’une valeur de 34 000$ (renouvelable), s’adresse à une personne qui a obtenu récemment (dans les cinq dernières années) un doctorat et dont les intérêts de recherche sont l’histoire de la médecine et des soins de santé au Canada. La ou le stagiaire devra avoir une bonne maîtrise du français ou de l’anglais et pouvoir lire tant le français que l’anglais.

NURISNG HISTORY RESEARCH UNIT

The Nursing History Research Unit (NHRU) is offering a one-year postdoctoral scholarship with all the advantages of a postdoctoral award at the University of Ottawa (http://www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=2272). The appropriate candidate is invited to participate in a research project on the recruitment of new nurses to Canada. Library and Archives Canada holds a large number of documents from the Ministries of Labour and Immigration on seeking professional nurses in the 20th century. The candidate will undertake initial research in the archives in order to pull together the information necessary to write a SSHRC or CIHR grant. He or she will also help initiate undergraduate students who have received Unit initiation into research awards. This postdoctoral award also represents an excellent opportunity for collaboration with other co-researchers in undertaking a large-scale research project.

The role of the postdoctoral fellow in the Unit will be to:
 Maintain contacts with our networks
 Follow-up on correspondence
 Maintain the Unit website
 Participate in organizing seminars with national and international speakers
 Direct a preliminary enquiry in the archives on a research project on nursing shortages and immigration
 Initiate undergraduate students to archival research
 Contribute to the teaching of nursing history courses in the nursing school.

Eligibility
The postdoctoral award, which has a value of $34,000 (renewable), is directed towards a person who has obtained a doctorate within the last five years and who is interested in research on the history of health and health care in Canada.
